The Chair

The wrinkled and patched leather of the chair, reminded me of my father's face. Worn but comfortable. He was gone now, and the chair stood alone ,collecting dust in our study.
My wife advocated for its placement in the lounge. "He might drop in, and the kids love playing in it". I admired how she dealt with death as if it was life. Perhaps it was.
The chair was remarkably suited to the lounge. The kids did love it and every creak of its frame told me a story. Dad was here. His love had never left. He was happy.
