Breaking Free
by Wils
I am the prisoner; he is the guard. It is that simple. He can come at me all he wants; I can take it because there will come a time when he makes that tiny mistake, and I will take full advantage.
I stare down at him, come get me you bastard. He answers by delivering one that connects squarely with my kidneys. Grimacing, I give a rub.
Facing up, I can see he’s changed his tactic. He bowls a short-pitched ball that I hit hard and watch it soar over the fence for six. Finally I have broken free.

Writing Prompt In 100 words, or less, write a short story--not necessarily a flash-fiction, though it could be--on the theme/subject/topic of 'prisoner'. It could be literal or metaphoric. |
I have written this from the perspective of someone playing cricket, a game I grew up with. It can easily be seen through the eyes of a baseballer. Hitting a six in cricket is the equivalent of a home run in baseball
