He's always near...

Fredrick Fear

Fredrick Fear, drove his carriage fast, no hesitation.
He was bound for a small town, filled with devastation.
A sickness spread throughout the town, people died each day,
what it was, nobody knew, the doctor couldn't say.

Fredrick Fear would soon arrive and spread throughout the town,
a bit concerned, the people felt, 'til Fredrick came around.
Soon his long black hand would touch each man, woman, and child,
inside their houses they would hide, with their faith defiled.

Fredrick, dressed up to the nines, knocked hard on every door,
no answer, still, Fredrick got in, creeping 'cross the floor.
He'd fill them up with sorrow, his fear he offered free,
soon satisfied he'd touched them all, so very proud was he.

Then Fredrick Fear, he settled in, thought he might stay a while,
lest someone just might dare to hope, or maybe even smile.
No sooner was his black coat hung, and his things put away,
the doctor figured out the source, a cure was on the way.

Fredrick Fear put on his coat, let out some heavy sighs,
soon their fear would all be gone, so Fred said his goodbyes.
No one was sad to see him go, that was his lot in life,
for he spread sadness, fear, and woe, with just a pinch of strife.

"Good Riddance!", all the people said, as Fredrick drove away.
And though he liked this town a lot and wanted much to stay...
he was always needed elsewhere, in a world so filled with hate,
war, disease, disasters, he would not have long to wait.

He'll ply his wares some other place, so skilled at spreading fear,
perhaps someday he'll come your way, he's always lurking near.
Maybe you've met him in the past, if not, you just might still,
forever he has been here, and for sure he always will.
