Love me a...
Staycation

My apple cider candle burned so bright,
as I sat at my table just last night.
Tried to plan our next family vacation
with a lot of staunch determination.
The ocean's beach with warm sand sounds so great,
amazing how it feels, there's no debate,
but then we'd have to book and board a plane,
and waiting for late flights is such a drain.
The mountains would be beautiful in Spring,
to see the flowers, watch the birds take wing.
But I'm afraid my climbing days are through,
with two bad knees, there's not much I can do.
Perhaps to the big city we will go,
to see skyscrapers, catch a Broadway show,
or maybe go to Egypt with my kids,
I'd love to see up close, the pyramids.
I think, though, during these times, we'll not roam,
it's probably much safer close to home.
So, dinner and a movie, it will be.
Spaghetti and a family DVD.
For me, it's the perfect
next vacation.
I wait for it with anticipation.
It won't cost much, not free, but pretty close.
Being with family, that's what counts the most.
