How can a world leader make better decisions?

If By Chance

by GeraldShuler

If, by chance, my words were read by presidents and kings
and those who truly have the power to fix Earths broken things
I wouldn't want to anger them for things they could have done.
'Would have', 'could have' doesn't count at setting of the sun.
Instead I'd want to give them cause to hear what I have said.
But I'm down here and they're up there... I may as well be dead.
So, knowing that I won't be heard, it's time to speak my mind.
Before you were elected sweet words made voters blind.
"I'll do this" or "I'll do that" but you knew it couldn't be.
To you it didn't matter... you got your cup of tea!
Your promises fixed nothing but you are not to blame
'cause any other leader would simply do the same.
You may have once had morals... this I'll never know
But they tend to bend so easily when gentle breezes blow.
Rich man's greed, an evil seed, grows nothing but ill will
yet leaders cower in their wake to stay in power still.
Look deeper into lives of men to see what really pains
Then you will see solution's grief... misery remains.
What caused the hurt and suffering? Where did it all begin?
Listen to the simple truth, it starts from deep within.
I guess the thing I need to say was missed entirely...
Don't think you solved the problem if it just leaves misery.
Christ showed the leaders of His day how to help our fellow man
yet even then the leaders balked... they didn't understand.
So if, by chance, my words were read by presidents and kings
Please hear my plea and listen to Christ's way to better things.
