While there's Still Time...

Love Life

There're flowers with a ribbon tied,
onto a highway mile marker.
To note the place where people died,
no moon above, the skies much darker.

Cut down before they had a chance,
to taste each flavor of this life.
Before they had more time to dance,
all dreams erased, cut like a knife.

The drivers who pass by it wonder,
what happened here, what was the cause?
Just knowing lives were put asunder,
more than enough to give them pause.

How quick the sun can set for good,
another day that will not be.
They'd do things different if they could,
but of the future we can't see.

So many left behind bereft,
with broken hearts that will not heal.
We can't know how much time is left,
express all of the love you feel.

I knew somebody long ago,
whose life was ended in his prime.
What he might've done, we'll never know,
an accident cut short his time.

Cut down before he had the chance,
to taste each flavor of his life.
Before he had more time to dance,
before my daughter became his wife.

Cherish life and all it gives,
for it is fragile for us all.
To the fullest we should live,
until we answer heaven's call.
