The Tour

We moseyed on down under cold winter clouds
to Capitol Hill and merged with the crowds.

Margaret and I were there for the day.
They said there's a tour and we don't have to pay.

Just as it started, the guard moved aside.
We thought the young man was there as a guide.

The dome was impressive right from the start.
We took many selfies by statues and art.

They blabbered their rantings, democracy hype.
In the midst of it all, we called family on Skype.

My husband came on with sweat on his brow.

"You're in a riot! I'm watching it now!"

I said, "Don't be silly. We're here in the hall.
We're taking some pictures, enjoying it all."

A half hour later I was wrong in my doubt,
when men in black suits rudely ushered us out.

Weeks had went by since we left the big dome,
then they handcuffed my ass in front of my home.

My pictures on Facebook led to arrest.
To the charges of trespass, I proudly confessed.

A little irate, I threatened to sue.
They said I can't loiter like terrorists do.

My label of traitor I now must endure.
I wish I'd not taken that free treason tour.
