Free style poem/human suffering

Discernment

We baulk or dither
or deny when suffering
looks us in the eye.
We google, scroll or
estimate what illness
or fatality may seal our fate.
Our instinct may be
to run for cover till
some answers we
may discover.
Yet suffering can be
a learning curve, a path
to insight, hope or love.
While our spirit
passes through that crucible
we may accrue discernment.
