A new perspective
Out With The Old
by BlueMarble
Happy New Year one and all. It’s that time again. Time to reflect on the past and resolve a future that will make our dreams come closer to true.
Every year for the past good many years I’ve clung to the same New Year’s resolution and once in a while I’ve been able to make it work. I found it in an old song by country singer Bill Anderson --
“Don't bring me down cause you feel funky
It ain't my job to tote your monkey.”
Throughout the year I frequently found reasons to grab that thought and remind myself of my resolution so why change a good thing. So often while listening to unreal requests or complaints it popped into my head and I would sing a few lines while moving forward with my day.
That’s all in the past now. With the changes that have crept into my life I find that it’s time to sing a new song.
Late stages of dementia have stolen most of a loved one’s mind and it really is my job to tote his monkey. I’ll be changing my tune with this year’s resolution --
“Lord for my sake
Teach me to take
One Day At a Time”
