Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
a free verse

Despised

by Bill Schott



The person I hate most

sucks joy from all I do,

reminding me of all

my shortcomings.

I am shown how I erred and lied;

how I back-stabbed and bore

false witness.

Why should I know the delight

of achievement?

Any love received

is delivered to the pseudo image,

which stands where the actual person

lies.

How I despise --

me.
