Title: Arsenic and Old Lace is a 1944 American black comedy film
True Story: In 1775, a new pigment was developed called Paris Green. It contained arsenic poison. Despite its high levels of toxicity, emerald green became so popular it was used in almost everything in the Victorian era. The most at risk were the factory workers handling Paris Green every day. In 1861, Matilda Scheurer dusted flowery hairpieces with arsenic. The poison infiltrated her body so aggressively that she developed green-tinted eyes and fingernails, she vomited green, and before dying, she claimed to see nothing but green. She was only 19. By the 1870s, people were wary of the green arsenic colorant so manufacturers created new dyes without poison. But some products still contained it. This only made people want to shy away from the emerald green dye more.
SIJO poem is a traditional Korean poetic form related to haiku and tanka. Traditionally, a Sijo is comprised of three lines of 14-16 syllables each, (I choose the six lines sijo for visual effect) for a total of 44-46 syllables but modern sijo may vary. Originally intended as songs, sijo can treat romantic, metaphysical, reflection, or spiritual themes. Whatever the subject, the first line introduces an idea or story, the second supply a "turn," and the third provides closure. The syllable count is 46 syllables or less, often in this pattern but not strictly. Theme 3,4,4,4 = 1st stanza/Elaboration 3,4,4,4 = 2nd stanza/Counter Theme 3,5. 3rd stanza/Completion 4,3 = 4th stanza Sijo Form Definition
