What will come after the end?

Will there be another beginning,
another day, a new breath taken,
a light filling the room?

Where will we go?
And with whom?

After we have crossed the chasm
in between worlds,
this one ending and that one beginning,
after we have leapt over the void
lying between memory
and hope,
what will we come down on?

Will we walk away
into a world without shadows,
a world without tears?

Will we see those mothers and fathers
we haven't seen in years?
And what will they tell us?

Will we come to life again,
will we be able to love again,
to speak of something inside of us
as if it survived the chrysallis,
a butterfly remembering the caterpillar on the leaf?
