Penny Helps Out

Penny Penelope Applebee
lives with her family in a house by the sea.
"Today is exciting!", she heard her mom say,
cause Penny and her family were making their way
to sign up to help on Thanksgiving day.
Penny's mom explained that there were people alone
who needed their help, so they'd go to their home...
with Thanksgiving dinner that others prepared,
Penny was glad there were people who cared.

dressed in her warmest clothes cause you see,
today was the day to help those in need
with wonderful meals that smelled good indeed!
Complete turkey dinner with sweet pecan pie,
maybe later, it's something Penny thought she might try.
Pumpkin was her favorite, she liked apple too,
she hoped to have both when their work was through.

delivered many meals with her family.
Penny was glad to see smiling faces,
they went through their town to so many places.
Then they went home to have their dinner too,
turkey and stuffing and when they were through,
her mom brought to the table two kinds of pie,
Penny had both with whipped cream piled high!

snuggled with her puppy Emily.
Emily had a Thanksgiving as well,
she really liked turkey, Penny could tell.
Later on mom and dad came in to say,
they were proud of how Penny helped out that day.
Penny had no doubt helping others was right,
as both she and Emily settled down for the night.
