But not for turkeys

Happy Thanksgiving Day

It's just a short two weeks away
before it is Thanksgiving Day.
 Excited I am, to say the least,
just can't wait for that turkey feast.

My favorite food is pumpkin pie,
that veggie pie just makes me sigh.
In fact, I really love it all,
the best November day in Fall.

My mom, she was the greatest cook,
with recipes not from a book.
Her skills she learned from her mom too,
then taught to me, and carried through.

Parades and football make it great,
of course, the good food on your plate.
But the best of all for me,
is spending time with family.

Next to Christmas I'd have to say,
it's been my favorite holiday.
Plus, turkey is my favorite meat,
no guilt felt when I overeat.

And don't forget that tasty pie,
the one that always makes me sigh.
Please have a great Thanksgiving day,
may many blessings come your way.
