I'd Hate To Lose My Mother

by Michael Bowman

I'd hate to lose my mother
All life would seem so tragic
Should I lose such love.

I'd hate to end up lonely
To lose my one and only
From high up above.

And where would I send flowers
Each Mother's Day?
Who would write me birthday cards
Along the way?
Who would tell those tales again
Of way back when?

I'd miss the conversations
The gentle voice that tells me
All that's wrong from right.

I'd hate to lose my mother
But know that it won't happen
If I pray each night.
