I'm Becoming a Bore

by LisaMay

I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole.
This FanStory habit is out of control;
it’s taken me, body and soul.
Its clutch is such that I miss it too much
when I go away, so I’m back here to play.
It seems I cannot cease and desist –
I must persist, I just can’t resist!

The duration of my fixation can cause irritation,
but my preoccupation also brings exhilaration
when each stroke of my pen or a tap on the keys
gives my brain constant tease.
I just cannot ease this infectious disease
until the words shape like these
in a verbal formation of phrase fluctuation.

Onwards I plow! Don’t stop me now.
My thoughts won’t allow this habit to break.
No pill that I take will stop this brain-ache.
You may know it well, when your brain starts to swell
and it gets to the stage that you think: Might as well
jot these words on a page
.

And then it starts over again!
I know that I cannot abstain
from wracking my brain
to get back on the train
of thought that is fraught
with these rhymes that are wrought
as the right word is sought
to get back on track, clickety-clack,
and find the knack to write yakety-yak.

What’s that attack?
You swore I’m becoming a bore?
That was so uncalled-for; now I’ll stop holding the floor.
But wait… there is more…
