(Someone Lies Dead)

Beneath Every Tombstone

by Mimi Linny

It has often been told,
But rarely been said
That beneath every tombstone,
There’s someone lies dead!

And though all that is left to them,
All that remains
In their casket is clothing
And skeleton frames…

They attempt to be patient
And try to behave,
But they’re just too cramped up
Lying still in their grave!

So each year
On the 31st Day of October,
At midnight they stretch
And then turn to roll over.

And up through their coffers
Midst shudders and moans,
They shake, roll and rattle
And stretch all their bones.

Then they’ll plan a grand party,
Inviting their kin
Lots of bats, ghouls and witches
And spiders drop in.

There are scary ghost stories
And tales to declare
How they’ve had lots of fun
Fooling all they can scare!
