Our Nights & Mornings - The ABCs

by Reese Turner

Are there monsters in my room?
Better check before I go to bed

Cause I need no monsters when
Dreams come into my head.
Embrace me before I sleep

For I love to feel your love
Give me a kiss and tell me again
He’ll watch me from up above.
In the morning, please be slow,

Just be gentle, not too loud.
Kiss me on my forehead, please,
Lift me softly like a cloud.
Make me a tasty breakfast
Never forget that I need food
Oh, yes, and some tasty juice
Please, no prunes yucky stewed!
Quick, help me get dressed nice,
Right for the weather today
Show me me in the mirror
Tie my shoes - tight to play!
Upbeat, make the mood
Very positive, happy, and
Watch as I open the door
X-ing out monsters in the land.
You always help me to succeed
Zany is zackly what I need!

Write a Children's Abecedarian Poem contest entry

Ah, the best times are the night times -
Reading, talking, kissing, prayers as we tuck them in.
Then the mornings, they start out slow, but then get going
Through their day of learning, play, then bedtime again...

They've been gone many years now, but we keep our skills sharp with grand-children, on occasion.
