Home Haircut

by Chrissy710

Home Haircut

I really need a haircut now
I've just heard my son say.
It has been such a long long time
I want no more delay.

Locked up here like a prisoner
My hair has surely grown
A hair appointment I can't make
My son began to groan.

I do not like this shaggy look
You know I keep it short
My hairdresser he needs me now
His wages are just nought.

I listened to my son, then said
I know just what you mean.
I am about to cut my own
Some scissors I have seen.

Into a mirror I will look
Then start first with my fringe.
I'll try my best to cut it straight
If crooked I'll not whinge.

I'll snip the bits that just stick out
Cut close around my ears,
The back I will just hack it off
For this I may need shears.

My store bought hair dye I'll mix up
T'will colour up the greys.
Then wash and dry my new hair style
And count the money saved.

Attention I will surely get
At me you'll stop and stare.
But know I've saved a fortune too
By doing my own hair.

I've practiced on your father too
I've even groomed the dog.
So with my new found cutting skills
I think I'll start a blog.

Have put a sign on my front fence
'Free haircuts' with a smile.
However when the neighbours pass
They seem to run a mile.

So son, if desperate you become
Please do not hesitate.
Just call in for your home haircut
A new style I'll create.

Recognized

My son who is in lockdown in Melbourne has not been able to go to the hairdressers for months now due to a strict lockdown and seeing him on face time recently I commented about his shaggy locks. He complained about no haircuts as he really like's to keep his hair well groomed

I thought I would write a fun poem for him I hope you enjoy and maybe some readers may identify with his dilemma

I am in the same predicament as I cannot go to my hairdresser also and have contemplated giving myself a trim, Hmmm probably not but it is tempting lol
