Endings

by Bill Schott

Many stories without adequate endings are floating out before me in a miasma of characters, action scenes, and rolling credits.

"The Sopranos" are there in the restaurant. The scene fades to black, then the lights snap on to reveal the set of "All in the Family".

Tony and Carmela Soprano are now Archie and Edith Bunker, but they still have the Soprano's looks and attitudes.

Maude visits and looks like Caitlyn Jenner. She is there with her legal partner George Jefferson who looks like Don Cheadle, complete with War Machine armor.

"What brings you here, Hammerhead?" says Archie.

"I came with Maude," said Don.

"I was talkin' to her, Tin Man."

The scene blurs and quickly returns to focus. Several people are in a waiting room.

The cast of "Lost", along with Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, realize they are all dead and waiting to go through a final door. Lights go out, come on, and everyone is a zombie.

When the door opens, all the zombies shove through the opening and end up in a music video with Michael Jackson.

My eyes burst open and I am in my bed. It was all a dream.

Crap! There's another bad ending.
