A man tries to break a family curse

A Life in Limbo

by Rdfrdmom2

It was almost dusk when the shrink lent a hand to her quarrelsome client to keep him from falling out of the rickshaw. Priding himself on being self-sufficient, he refused – and fell.

“Oops,” she said.

“You harpy,” he shot back.

“Well, let’s get to the land of the undead unless you want to remain in limbo for the remainder of your life. The geisha said you must hear the sounds of your family cricket before the sunshine breaks the darkness. Otherwise, all bets are off and you will never break the family curse.”

“Explain to me just how you will know which cricket is from my family.”

“Oh, no, my friend. That’s not how this works. It’s your family, your problem. I’ll be back in the morning to see if you are in tune with your family. Otherwise, I will be returning to the States alone.”
