Can't help but stare at...

Fascinating People

by Boogienights

Habits. Contest Winner
People fascinate me, I tend to stare.
I get caught quite a lot, but I don't care.
I really can't help it, the people I see,
I wonder about them, they fascinate me!

Especially those who are out of the norm.
Those who are different, refuse to conform.
Protesters, the homeless, they catch my attention,
and those who dress quirky are worthy of mention.

I stare, they may think that I'm rude but I'm not.
It's just that these souls, they intrigue me a lot.
My family, they tell me that staring is wrong.
I think they're embarrassed as I stare at the throng.

Spectators that pass me at a festival near,
I wonder about them and why they came here.
Is life happy or sad for these people I note?
I can't tell from their faces, their expressions remote.

Each one has a life that's uniquely their own,
I'd like to know more but their lives are unknown.
So I create stories that fit who I see,
wish I could stop staring but it's not meant to be.
