Crumbs

by zanya

Hot rays of June sun warmed the platform. Passengers waited for the 11.10 to Barnstale.

Josh gazed at the graffiti on the grey walls. Amy would have called it artistic expression. Amy's  eye saw art everywhere.

Since Covid 19 was still raging  there were few passengers. A young boy giggled as he trailed biscuit crumbs for the starlings along the yellow line.

As Josh scrolled he wondered why now. Had Amy had a change of heart? Freedom was her mantra. Had she had enough and wanted him back? He realised that she still held onto a large chunk  of his heart.
