Yes I am!

Artist?

Do you ever wonder
about paintings on your wall?
They've been hanging there forever,
yet you don't see them at all!

Do you ponder about the artists
who once painted those scenes?
And wonder why they chose,
that particular theme?

Like horses in a meadow,
or a gay Paree streetscape.
All worthy of a painters brush,
of that there's no debate.

So why do I not see them
when passing by my walls?
There they hang day after day,
yet I don't see them at all.

Yet, now since I am looking,
what could I have been thinking?
Badly painted sailboats
that look like they are sinking.

Or that landscape that's bright yellow,
filled with dandelion...weeds!
Up close I see that's what they are,
annoying me indeed.

Wouldn't roses, lilacs, daisies,
have been a better choice?
It's up for sale on eBay,
when it sells I will rejoice.

Then there's that velvet painting
of cute dogs playing cards,
bought at one of the sales
held in various neighbors yards.

It's said everything has a price,
those dogs are going cheap.
When my husbands not looking,
or he might start to weep.

I'll fill empty wall spaces,
with artwork that is mine.
I'm really quite artistic,
and my paintings look just fine.

One day I will be famous,
my art hung on a wall.
At a prestigious art show,
highly praised by one and all!

But until that day comes,
On our walls my art prevails.
I'd hang more but my family hid,
my hammer and my nails!
