The First Kiss

by Willie P. Smith

The First Kiss

While standing beneath a large oak tree.
Where my love and I first kissed.
My mind wandered back in time,
And what I might have missed.

Quite by chance, I happened there.
As if looking for my love.
She appeared to me, like in a dream,
Sent from up above.

Under that tree became the place
Where our love grew and grew.
We met each day growing closer.
After a few meetings we knew.

We were just kids when we met,
But with grown up feelings.
The love we found beneath that tree,
Sent our two hearts reeling.

Puppy love, everyone called it.
But the two of us knew better.
After awhile, in my heart,
I knew I was going to wed her.

We shared many wonderful years together,
In a lover's bliss.
A love we kept deep in our hearts,
That started with that first kiss.
