feed the Fire

by Leann DS

born
she's a spark
blazing potential
temporary and fragile
when fed, the small spark ignites
nurture and tend it
let it grow
flame

shine
young girls glow
pure joy radiates
inner light pours out sunbeams
they romp, shimmering freedom
their spirits glimmer
sparkling
life

dims
without care
then, words snuff them out
there's nothing to feed the fire
their inner light fades away
flame flickers and coughs
extinguished
gone
