She's a good one.
My Old Truck
by Willie P. Smith
My old truck has been around
For nigh on thirty years.
She rattles some, but don't miss a lick,
When shifting through the gears
She does real fine when in traffic
and rolling down the road.
She slows down when pulling steep hills,
Or under heavy load.
We've covered lots of miles in her day ,
She's been driven pretty hard.
I don't keep her in a garage,
I just park her in my yard.
The body's got rust, and needs some paint,
There's a dent here and there.
The motor's strong, tires are good,
I drive her everywhere.
She don't cost me much, just for gas
That's to be understood.
I've replaced some plugs, wires and such
And small things under the hood
She don't smoke, don't burn no oil
And is still a real good truck.
If you ask, I'll tell you flat,
It ain't because of luck.
I think she's a keeper, and I have no plans
Of ever trading her in.
I bought a new truck the other day,
Just to show off now and then.
Why she's still a real good truck
Ain't no mystery to me,
Because on the tailgate are three bold letters
That read, "GMC."
