Sadness on...

She walked in the rain for quite a while,
down a road that she knew very well.
She sang to herself, her anger to quell,
she was getting close now, she could tell.

She saw his face in the steam that rose,
as the rain hit the hot gravel road.
She heard a loud bellow come from the marsh,
plaintive mating calls from a lone toad.

The song she sang was special to them,
they danced to it when they first met.
She saw the road curve just up ahead,
memories came she wants to forget.

He said he'd be true to the day that he died,
promises for him were hard to keep.
So one night she followed and saw them both there,
when he left he thought her fast asleep.

Betrayed and hurt, she ran from the house,
a drunk driver that moment sped by.
He ran after her but it was to late,
he was there by her side as she died.

Now she walks this road to the home those two share,
as the same car each time comes along.
Forever replaying the scene every night,
you can still hear her singing their song.

She waits 'till she sees them, then slowly walks back
to the graveyard just down by the glen.
She'll rest for a while until the next night,
doomed to live it all over again.
