A Monchielle for the club event
With tears I watch her walk

My mum is 86 soon and is old and frail however with good family and community support she lives independently
Her walking is quite slow ,she shuffles along and often and at times uses a walker or a stick
Mum has not been really well of late so I stayed with her over the last week and she seemed a little better , however 5 days ago she has a fall in her bedroom and landed heavily on the floor stating her legs just gave away.
I rang the ambulance and made her as comfortable as I could keeping her warm while the ambulance arrived ( 1/12 hrs later)
We got her to the hospital ED and xrays showed she had fractured the end of her femur bone ( a medial femoral condule at Knee joint)
Although she is old the only treatment to regain any mobility was an operation and she had that and now has a pin and plate in her leg ( mum did well with the Operation and anaesthetic)
It will be at least 6 to 8 weeks recovery with physio and rehab before she even looks like coming back home
The day of her operation our state of victoria went into a strict 7 day lockdown so that also means No visitors anywhere including hospital so my poor Mum will just have the hospital staff looking after her . We will ring everyday though.
I now worry she may never get home as her confidence and fear of falling has always been in her mind and now this has made it even worse
So yes , with tears I watch her walk , this has been a while now but even more so after this horrible fall.
Old age does no favours
I thought I would try writing a Monchielle for the club event that Jan organiser ( Thanks Jan for giving us interesting challenges
