If We Asked Those Who Died

by pome lover

Memorial Day honors the memory
Of those who died defending this country
And I wondered what they would think
If they could see America today.

Would they recognize their countrymen?
Would they rise from their graves in protest
Over the worming of Socialism
Into our government?

Would they go before Congress
And tell them they are ruining America?
Would they demand our history be taught;
That we are not a racist country?

Would the dead from WWII,
Think they were back in Germany,
Where the Nazi government
Controlled what they said and did?

Would they be angry over a media
That “portrayed” the news according to
Their personal political opinions—
Misleading the public?

Do we have less outrage
Over what is happening now
To the once United States of America?
Do we have the courage to change it?

Are we worthy of the sacrifice they made?
Will we fight for our freedoms,
Defend our Constitution
And stand strong against Socialism?

Americans who honor the men
Who fought to defend this nation,
Need to stand and defend her again
From those who would destroy her.

Watching what is happening to this country, both at the hands of our government, which is embracing socialist ideas, and those in power who give the people no choice in the matter of mask wearing, the effect of which has been said by many to be ineffective, who berate those who choose not to be vaccinated, who have locked down businesses, ruined lives; governors and mayors who have not only permitted riots but encouraged them--in other words denied individual freedoms - this is not America.
Memorial Day honors men of courage who loved their country and died defending it. It would behoove us to honor their memory by defending what this country stands for.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
