How to FISH

by Rebel Jim

Oh yuck! first I had to learn how to gut a night crawler (worm) by putting it on a hook,
to where the catfish would take it all hook and line, but hopefully not the sinker.

Then I threw that line out and dad told me," this is where you have to have a whole lot of patience".
That's when I got my first taste of moonshine mixed with fruit juice.
"Don't you dare tell mom or we'll both be "UP MANURE CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE!"

Being 10 years old, I actually knew what he was saying.
After around 15 or 20 minutes, we both got some bites....

Dad was trying to coach me while trying to bring in his bite too!
"Let 'em nibble for a second and NOW JERK THAT HOOK!"....
Dad came out with I'd be guessing a 3 pounder, mine was probably around that same amount.

Gitting that first strike... Was a Thrill !!... Eating our catch right there on that lake bank from
a campfire, in a cast iron skillet and having some good "fixin's" with it.... UMMM!!

Oh how I miss those days!!
