A dream helps to soothe an aching heart.
Underwater Dream
by HarryT
I run along the ocean shore taking deep breaths to cleanse my aching heart. I jog onto the cement pier casting an arm into the white-capping sea. At the end of the pier sits a beautiful young maiden offering a goblet. “Drink,” she says, “pain will be forgotten.”
With trembling hands, I drink from the gold goblet; my mind soars as I tumble into the sea. I sprout gills and a flipper tail. We descend into the watery deep to a wonderous city where Poseidon is king. He raises his trident, she squeezes my hand, he pronounces, "You are free."
