Max heard the faint sound of thunder. He got off the couch, which he wasn't supposed to be on, and saw the black storm clouds. He saw the first streak of lightning; the thunder louder and closer. Max wasn’t going to wait around; he went and hid under the bed.

Many animals are frightened by thunder, fireworks, and other loud booms. They seek dark and enclosed areas to feel safe.
