Golden Thread

by JLR

My broken heart sown with golden thread,
will this heart's wound once again heal?
She said, "I think the answer you shall dread."

Must I toil so, to get her out of my head?
Her wounding words making me reel!
My broken heart sown with golden thread.

Love songs, sang to her, she was misled,
it was but my appeal, my pent-up zeal,
She said, "I think the answer you shall dread!"

Dear sir, there is another I love instead.
Piercing pain so searing, the hurt so real,
my broken heart sown with golden thread.

What blindness preyed upon what I misread?
As her words echoing, unreeling, so surreal!
She said "I think the answer you shall dread."

If there was no other, could we move ahead?
Would you partake in a romance, sweet Camille?
My broken heart sown with golden thread,
She said, "I think the answer you shall dread."
