true love story

following my dream girl

by jake cosmos aller

The central mystery of my life has always been how I met my wife. I first met her in a dream in 1974 when I fell asleep in a high school class. I saw the most beautiful woman in the woman talking to me in a strange language. I yelled out "who are you?" and she disappeared.

I started having the same dream week after week. I knew that that was my fate. I would meet her some day. I did not know it would take eight long years though.

When I had to decide where to go in the Peace Corps I had the dream and I realized she was in Korea so off to Korea I went to look for her.

I finished the Peace Corps and took a job teaching for the U.S. army. I finally had enough and was prepared to go back to graduate school at the University of Washington when I had the last dream.

She said

Don't worry. We will meet soon,

That night getting off the bus was the girl in the dream. The next day she was waiting for me. I dismissed my class early and we went out and talked. She said that she was madly in love with me and I was hers.

I told her I felt the same.

I had a choice to make. I could dismiss this all as thinking she was a psychological disturbed woman and dismiss her because this dream could not be coming true for things like that do not happen in the real world.

But I knew I had no choice. I met my fate that date. Two months later she became my wife. That was almost 40 years ago.

I always recall the dream and that I married the lady of my dreams. And I knew that I really had no choice in the matter at all. It was the working of fate after all.
