Asking questions of mom

Didn't you

by Mary Vigasin

You did not think of the damage it would do.

When you went against the doctor's advice.

He told you that there was a danger to you and the baby.

But you took your chance and lost.

Didn't you realize that you would leave your children lost for years to come?

We would not have someone to help us avoid mistakes.

Didn't you realize that no one would be there to dry our tears?

We would not have anyone to guide us into adulthood.

Didn't you realize that your husband was not a strong man?

He would sit and wallow in grief while we fended for ourselves.

Didn't you realize that your children would spend a lifetime in grief?

We look at your picture and try to remember your presence.

Didn't you realize how much we loved and needed you?
