A mother living her daughter's life
Living Your Life
A woman is never satisfied
Just dreaming of a baby alone
I prayed to God as I cried
Please give me a child of my own
Then one day we got the call
"We have a baby girl here waiting for you"
The night was long, time seemed to stall
Motherhood for me was finally coming true
You captured my heart the moment I saw you
My love was yours, no room for another
This feeling you gave me was brand new
I had nothing left to give your brother
As you grew, I began to live though you
you were beautiful, gracious, and kind
Your heart was pure, your love was true
Day by day our lives became intertwined
We laughed, we joked, we were like one
Your high school years were my best
Cheer leading, boyfriends, and proms
Living through you, I felt so blessed
I was delirious living your life
When all you wanted was a life of your own
I was too busy to see I was causing you strife
You were so tired of me being your clone
A part of me died the day you left our home
My life before you was dreary. Even more so now
I am trying so hard to live a life of my own
But no matter how hard I try, I just don't know how
Looking back, I do not remember when things began to change
In my selfish desire to live your life I could not see your pain
It took me thirteen years for my life to rearrange
At last I am now living my own life again
A strange and wonderful thing has taken place
While I was living her life, my son was ignored
He had been waiting for my heart to find him space
At last I am able to give him that place he had been waiting for
