A Shakespearian sonnet

Too Shy

by JLR

I watch, not seen, as words I scribe appear
in lines from deep inside my heart this morn,
words stop, astart with fear, when she comes near
my small, concealed retreat, with gate time worn.
My thoughts I chase. She slows to a snails pace.
My heart bursts with awe of her sleek allure,
Such grace, not meek! Much poise her charm in place.
Beyond words, besottted I am unsure.
I sat afraid, emitting not a peep!
The fool am I! A love, at last, I lost.
She walks away toward verdure quite deep
Wouldst she take pause for me? But, at what cost?
I write, unknown to her, these words of love
You have torn my big heart apart, my dove!
