A sticky situation
Ooey-Gooey

One hot summer day, as I strolled along.
I stepped on something that felt like melting gum.
Looking down at the pavement, I saw that I was wrong.
Instead, I saw some ooey- gooey, green scum.
My body was shivering, what a rotten smell, surprisingly strong .
My foot would not move, I started to feel quite glum.
It clung like sucking mud, my patience was long gone.
What was this sticky stuff- some type of devil's spawn?
Then I had a clever thought that was perfectly, spot on.
I would leave the shoe, despite knowing my mom would smack my bum.
