No Way Out

Terrified, Sandy waited, knowing he would come.
At the hospital entrance, he stopped, looked around before stepping into the shadows.
She moved closer. “Eric.”
He froze, unable to look at her. “Why are you here?”
“You can’t do this.”
“Oh, but I can.” His voice trembled. “I’d give you anything, my love.”
“I beg you. Please, Eric, not this way.”
Moonlight revealed the gun.
Sandy screamed. “Noooo!”
“Give our daughter my heart.”
The gun fired.
