Awash with...

Anxiety

Emotions Contest Winner 
Anxiety has taken hold
of many nowadays.
Mixed in with fear and loneliness,
it hurts in myriad ways.

Stressed by the things that we can't change,
unsure and feeling sick.
With racing thoughts, can't concentrate,
a life I wouldn't pick.

So twisted up and sleep deprived,
that life is put on hold.
Anxiety, it stops the dreams,
you once thought would unfold.

Events of late have made things worse,
distancing takes its toll.
So much of what makes this life great,
is not in our control.

Talking to others is so hard,
you can't communicate.
When trying to express yourself,
your fear just won't abate.

Anxiety is such a scourge,
it takes your breath away.
 sadly, so many suffer,
through each and every day.

Anxiety can cause despair,
how do I know it's true?
Because it's taken hold of me,
I suffer from it too.
