A Minute poem for spring contest

Hidden Treasures

by June Sargent

Anticipating more wet snow,
my candles glow
as I sip wine -
a fine, crisp Rhine.

While Arctic winds swirl all around.
I hunker down
imagining
an early spring.

I see a mother guard her nest,
a proud red breast.
Beneath green stems -
three precious gems.
