Back When Music Made Us Dance

by Reese Turner

Back when music made us all dance…
I’d go back there, given the chance
Dancing close as the singer sings
Oh, the joys those memories bring…

But, now the music is harsh, loud
Some even stirs an angry crowd!
Bands once did not shock at a glance
Back when music made us all dance…

I’m not just talkin’ rock n roll,
Country music has paid a toll
Lyrics of rage. Not of romance
Back when music made us all dance…

Would we all be happier now
If music soothed our world somehow,
Smiling like music did enhance
Back when music made us all dance…
