What Did I Do At School Today?

by Reese Turner

What did I do at school today?
It wasn’t like school, more like play,.
Going to school in my pajamas
Like other kids, with their mamas.

School is all homework now for me
My teacher sends it all to my “PC”.
There’s video so I can watch the others.
I even watch from under the covers!

Sometimes, I don’t turn the video on –
I just answer, “Here”, then I’m gone!
Back to bed, or to play outside
With no video on, I can hide!

Every day is “bring your pet” day
My dog, Sissie, with me will stay.
Some kids have cats, even snakes -
Pet Day is fun. We take lots of breaks.

When homework’s hard, I can’t do it,
So, I give it to mom, there’s nothin’ to it!
She does her best, but mistakes made,
She gets mad when we get a low grade

PE in my bedroom gets me down,
But, in my yard I can run around.
Once, with mom, I even rode my bike.
PE alone is strange. Not sure I like…

Lunch at home school doesn’t please -
I’m getting really tired of grilled cheese!
Veggies and fruits on the side aren’t fun!
Mom grades what I ate when I’m done.

Parent pick-up at the end of the day
Doesn’t take long, it’s our driveway!
Then I’m free to play or watch TV
But with no other kids, alone, just me.

Please make this virus go away!
I miss my friends at school and play.
I even miss the teachers, and the rules.
Kids should be with others at their schools!

Write a children's rhyming of length or style

Our teaching daughter tells us stories that can amuse or simply break our hearts. We all remember school as such an interesting and exciting time in a young life. To face learning alone is unthinkable to me.
