A description of my childhood

Growing Up Me

by Monica Chaddick

Childhood was no joy for me
Nothing was as it should be

Daddy drank and had a gun
Mom's emotions were no fun

She blamed him and he blamed her
I was caught up in the stir

No one was wiser to my plight
When they would yell and they would fight

I was alone, I had no one
Siblings gone, the only one

I felt affection from my dad
But from my mom, none to be had

Thankfully I grew up fine
My heart, my soul, my love, my mind
