Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
free verse

The World Ends with a Blah

by Bill Schott




The tide is rising
as the world before collapses
into the balmy sea.

No mitigating meteor,
intruding like a hammer,
to blame for this incursion.

As the proverbial frog,
in the metaphorical pot,
becomes comfortable
in the tepid water,
warming until boiling,
we sit, 
watching the land erode,
as the foam 
follows us home.
