If At First You Don't Succeed...

I watch him walk by every day,
distinguished in his dark blue suit.
I think he's fine in every way,
a match for me, single to boot!

I cannot breathe when he's around,
the air it seems, just disappears.
He doesn't notice me, I've found,
but I don't pout, cry useless tears.

I have a plan in place you see,
I'll wear a flower in my hair,
in my new dress he'll notice me.
They say in love and war, all's fair.

He walked by my desk, pipe in hand,
he said hello, but not a glance.
I hate when guys don't understand,
when for a love, they have a chance.

So then I tried a different tack,
I elbowed him as he went by.
He barely noticed, that's a fact,
sometimes I wonder why I try.

But he's so handsome in his suit,
he's just so perfect, I must say,
and I'm in love with him to boot!
I just can't let him get away.

I have one final plan in place,
tomorrow when he walks my way,
I'll stand and say right to his face,
"Would you like to have lunch today?"

"Have lunch with you!?", he was surprised.
He said, "I thought you'd never ask!".
"You have the most enticing eyes."
Now filled with glee, my spell was cast.

So if romance is on your mind,
you find a guy painfully shy.
Don't wait around for you may find,
that true love just might pass you by.

Speak up and say what's in your heart,
the point of all these words I rhyme?
You should jump in right from the start,
you might find love to last through time.
