I Hate Being Old

by RodG

My body aches. I feel betrayed.
That back of mine was doing fine
until I bent to tie my shoe.
Sharp daggers now attack my spine.

These knees announced they're finished too.
My body aches. I feel betrayed.
They buckle when I try to walk.
Without a cane, I am afraid.

I dare not nap in chair, on couch,
or pain in neck I'll surely get.
My body aches. I feel betrayed.
These constant breakdowns make me fret.

That Tylenol, Advil, Aleve
don't do no good. I've even prayed
God calls me soon, gives me relief.
My body aches. I feel betrayed.
