A Soap Opera
When I was young I gave to you,
my fragile heart, it was untried.
You told me you'd protect it well,
I've since found out how much you lied.
So many nights we made sweet love,
but many nights I spent alone.
I'd lie awake just wondering,
no answer when I called your phone.
Yes I am young, but I'm no fool.
Though careful not to leave a clue,
I knew someone was in your thoughts
and sometimes pressed up close to you.
So follow you I did one day,
quite stealthy so you couldn't see,
that I was there when you met him.
Two bodies melded tenderly.
You have betrayed the vow you made,
my thoughts confused and in a whirl.
If you must break my heart of glass,
it should have been another girl.
It's so much worse, I can't explain,
that you have chose to love a man.
It hurts the same, whatever sex,
I see you walk off hand and hand.
I sit alone and wonder why,
"What difference does it make?", I think.
Betrayal's the same, no matter who,
my anger was brought to the brink.
There's nothing like a woman scorned,
truer words have not been spoken.
The love I had for you is gone,
revenge, fueled by a heart that's broken.
I took the things that you held dear,
collectables and anime,
and placed them in the fire pit.
Now, ashes that were blown away.
Don't use your key, the locks are changed,
have fun with your new paramour.
I've moved on now and you have too,
on us, my heart has shut the door.
Oh, one last thing worthy of note,
when cheating on me with another,
I wish a stranger it had been,
anyone but my twin brother.
