A sonnet: Someone to be thankful for

My Brother Jim

If I could have you back for one more day
Just one more time to see your smiling face.
I'd sit you down and then to you would say
Within my heart you leave a broken place.

Because, my brother dear you were the best
I thank you for good times together shared.
My tears ran free when you we laid to rest
Our lives entwined and for each other cared.

No longer can I ring or hear your voice
Share laughter loud, in silence I now weep.
I know the day you died you made a choice
Be with your lord you loved; now his to keep.

Although you've gone I feel your love still here
Within my heart for ever with me near.
